2One of the reason why I consider 1983 as the first year of a mature game industry is because this is the first year that all the most important features of the genres were implemented.
Pit Stop is one such game: Multiple and complex race tracks? Check. Recognizable competing driver? Check. Engine sounds? Check. Fast colourful graphics? Check. Heck, even this game has nice looking sprites with a working pit stop functionality. All of this does not mean that these game were complete, or refined. It is enough to think about Pit Stop II, which is a much better game. But generally I find the games of 1983 drastically more playable in 2021 than the games of 1982.
