Play Your Game Backups On PS2 HDD - Is It Worth it??
713You might be tempted to backup your game collection on a PS2 hard drive and run the games off of there instead. Here's how I did it.
Recently, I went through and documented the process I took to get all of my PS2 game collection backed up on a hard drive, so I could play the games without needing to use the discs again. My past experience of this sort of thing comes from when I did it on my Wii, which has all my Wii and GameCube games backed up on a USB hard drive.
It turns out that - although the start was simple enough, thanks to the efforts of the PS2 modding community - the rest of the additional process was a pain to set up. There's several trips between a PC and the PS2, lots of trial and error, and I even had to contend with my brand new hard drive breaking on me!
If you've been thinking of backing and running your games on a PS2 hard drive, hopefully this video gives you an idea of what's involved in order to do it, or it might even give some people tips on how to proceed if they've started but hit a brick wall.
