Playing Every Scooby-Doo Game to Feel Something - Scooby Doos and Scooby Don'ts
Scooby Doo as a concept has existed far longer than most realize, and will continue to exist far longer than what we can even imagine. But in all that time, how many of his video games were actually good, and how many were just slop to sell to kids. Spoiler alert: I played them all this Halloween to answer that question objectively. And the results will surprise you.

(text from the script to help the algorithm know this is for SURE a Scooby Doo video dw)
Scooby Doo has been around longer than you or I, and it will outlive everyone, so it’s not surprising that between the early 90s to late 2000s we got a lot of games based off of everyone’s favorite mystery solving mutt. But which virtual scoobs are the best ones, and which ones deserve to be forgotten like Googi, Shaggy’s girlfriend who only appeared in one movie, and who’s name you’ll forget within minutes. Well, I’m here to find out with my patent pending Scooby Doo Video Game Ranking System, which is to say, a tierlist, where I will place every Scooby Doo console and handheld game. No mobile games, no pc games, and I’m gonna say no Zed X Spectrum games because it’s a bitch and I hate it. Scooby Doo Mystery for the Super Nintendo. Developed by Sunsoft, this game hits me hard with a good impression from the music alone. I am a sucker for the Scooby Tunes, and this game takes some of the classic cartoon’s tracks and ports them pretty well to the SNES. Gameplay wise it’s a stock standard 2D puzzle platformer. You can move, you can jump, you can talk to the rest of Mystery Inc, and you can solve a mystery. Sorry, Velma can solve the mystery, Scooby and Shaggy are just the clue monkeys. The actual GAME part of the game is kinda just okay, you move around at a kinda slow pace, and you just kinda wander from room to room hoping you stumble upon the next step in the check list of what to do. The charm is here though, the sprites are very well made and pay respects to the cartoon, and like I said a minute ago, this music is genuinely just fun to vibe to, so the overall presentation gets a solid A grade from me. The game even attempts some regular platforming in a later segment, and I think attempt is the best descriptor because what in the name of Scrappy Doo is this shit. Your jump is limp and splatty and so small you have to have REALLY precise timing to make it across the platforms, you take damage from FALLING which will always be a cardinal sin in any 2D platformer, and when you finally get to the end you find Ted. After about 20 minutes of gathering clues and kinda just randomly seeing what items are used where, we find out someone has been using a not yellow submarine to steal treasures from underwater caves, so we construct a trap and I spend a whole 3 minutes wandering around to find this someone, we trap them, unmask them, they were a character I hadn’t even met so I don’t give a shit, meddling kids, and the end.
