In Episode 5 we learn that Anele Johnson is ice cold! These terminal logs are very disturbing. Oh, and we’re breaking her window with Helix Probes now. Surprise! Did I mention that Kaizen things we’re dead? According to Kaizen’s logs, the last time someone did that it corrupted his memory. So come and let’s play event[0] blind!

A quick shout out to the fine folks at Ocelot Society (the developers) for trusting enough in my small channel to give me a preview code for the game.

In Episode 1 of the event[0] full playthrough, I choose the backstory of my character and learn that I’m (apparently) the only survivor of the Europa-11 mission. My escape pod docks with a seemingly abandoned space cruise ship that, I quickly learn, is controlled by an AI called Kaizen. The episode ends as I introduce myself and find a way out of the airlock. Episode 2 of let’s play event[0], Kaizen tells us how we can return to Earth (by destroying the ship’s drive) and tells us that we need to get into the bridge. The door is password protected, so we spend some time reading through crew logs to see what information we can find. Event[0] is a fascinating game, not only because you need to think about what to ask/say to Kaizen, but because it’s very atmospheric. I can’t wait to see what else happens in my event[0] full playthrough as I continue to explore the ship! Episode 3 of let’s play event[0] has us explore the living room and then run shady executables on Kaizen’s terminal in order to open the bedroom door. Episode 4 of let’s play event[0] blind finds us in Nandi’s bedroom, searching for the bridge access code, getting blown into space, and finally ending up one deck below—in the garden. In Episode 5 of let’s play event[0], we find a secret code hidden in the piano, take control of Helix Probes, and find out what Anele did to Nandi!

This series will focus on a full, blind playthrough of event[0] in a way that tries to explore everything and learn all the lore. In a word, this event[0] blind walkthrough series will try to really find out what happened in this alternate timeline, what happened on the Nautilus-class ship, and what really happened to the crew that Kaizen keeps mentioning. We will see how the novel mechanic affects the event[0] gameplay and it’ll also likely serve as an event[0] review. So come and let’s play event[0] blind!

From the Developers:

Event[0] is an award-winning narrative exploration game where you must build a relationship with a lonely spaceship computer to get home. Set in a retrofuture inspired by sci-fi classics such as 2001: A Space Odyssey, the game is about forging a personal relationship with your only companion, an insecure AI entity capable of procedurally generating over two million lines of dialog. You interact with the computer, named Kaizen, by typing messages on terminals throughout the ship.
You’ll freely navigate evocative 3D environments brought to life with physics-based rendering and advanced lighting techniques. You’ll examine items to gather information and solve hacking puzzles as you progress. You can even leave the ship for breathtakingly scary spacewalks! All sound and music come from the environment; there is no traditional score. The ship is essentially the AI computer’s body, and reacts to Kaizen’s feelings by making different sounds—pay attention for clues!

As in any relationship, there can be gratitude, disappointment, or jealousy, and Kaizen reacts differently depending on its mood. By working through the fears and anxieties of your virtual companion, you can eventually find your way back to Earth—while unraveling the cryptic history of the ship and the 1980s society from which it emerged.

More from the devs (edited):

Type like your life depends on it in Event[0], the story-driven spacefaring adventure in which players must build a relationship with a lonely spaceship computer to get home.

Set in a retrofuture inspired by 2001: A Space Odyssey, Solaris and Brave New World, Event[0] is a game about building a personal relationship with a machine using natural language. As a player, your only companion is an insecure and unstable AI entity named Kaizen, with whom you interact by typing messages using antiquated computer terminals throughout a desolated spacecraft. The game’s multi-layered story emerges organically as players communicate with Kaizen, freely explore 3D environments, gather information and solve hacking puzzles.

As in any relationship, there can be gratitude, disappointment or jealousy, and Kaizen reacts differently depending on its mood and the situation at hand.
