The PCSX2 Playstation 2 Emulator has had some major breakthroughs the past couple of months. The nightly builds are miles ahead of the last stable release. The emulator has sped up tremendously enabling solid 100% speed emulation with many games, including many of the harder to run games.
The Vulkan API seems to have had a great impact on performance.

Game: Outrun2 SP (Japanese) running first at the native NTSC resolution (640x480 Widescreen) and then the emulator upscales the game to 1080p60. Which makes it sort of look like a PS3 title. The polygons and assets used in this game seem to be quite perfect for upscaling to 1080p. On my system there was no performance drop or increased lagginess that used to occur with the emulator when upscaling the output render resolution.

Any additional pixelization and mpeg artifacting is courtesy of YouTube's default 1080p-codec in combination with what Davinci Resolve is doing to video game footage the last couple of versions. Mind you it still is a lot better than the post-stamp GIFs, FLC and AVI files we had to deal with back in the day. ;) Enjoy!
