The "near" open source free game engine Defold now has support for PlayStation development! Currently it is for PlayStation 4, with PlayStation 5 support coming later this year and Xbox support hopefully coming early 2024. This joins the Nintendo Switch that got Defold engine support back in 2020.

Adding closed console support to open source engines can provide a challenge with those proprietary implementations needing to be hidden away. You also need to have a PlayStation developer account (or Switch or in the future Xbox) in order to utilize those platforms.
