Playstation TV: Open Letter To Isabelle Tomatis, Marketing Director Sony CE Europe

Dear Mrs Tomatis
Please find enclosed a Sony Playstation TV, which I purchased at Christmas to stream games from my Sons PS4 to another room in the house. We bought my son the PS4 at Christmas too, with the official Playstation Wireless Surround-Sound Headset, the official vertical stand, Black Ops 3, Star Wars, Fallout 4 and the Nathan Drake Collection. We also bought a second controller to work with the PS TV.
I read the description on your website, which said “Stream your PS4 games to any TV in your home at a great new price.” so I thought the PSTV would be ideal for what we needed, especially as we have a good quality wired LAN in our house that could connect the consoles, and to the internet, without using Wireless.
Unfortunately after trying Black Ops 3 and Star Wars for several hours on the PSTV we have given up on this device. The lag inherent in the system means that any shooters are very difficult, if not impossible to play, locally or online.
I have sent you my PSTV so that you can plug it in at your offices and get your Marketing Team to have a go at streaming Black Ops or Star Wars from a PS4, and play online, so they can see what the experience is like.
I then challenge your marketing team to in all good faith keep selling the PSTV as a device that can effectively stream games from a PS4, because they will see that the experience of playing two of the biggest and best selling, titles of the year is not a good one.
After being Xbox 360 and Xbox One users for several years, we were very excited at the prospect of the PS4 and being able to play it in different rooms in the house with the PSTV, but we are now doubly disappointed because the money we wasted on the PSTV and a controller to use with it, would have gone a considerable way to buying a Graded PS4, which were available at the time too.
After you have experimented with the PSTV please dispose of it as you wish. Keep it, throw it away, or give it to one of your colleagues. I have no interest in ever using it again, and it cannot be returned because it has been used and cannot be classed as faulty, although it could be argued that for streaming certain games it is not fit for purpose.
