Knack:
Personally, I wouldn’t see Knack’s difficulty as a major issue. That being said, those that were expecting something similar to Spyro the Dragon, were in for a shock. Ultimately, the mixed reviews reflect a lot of what the gaming community felt about Knack. According to Metacritic, Knack scored a very average 54%.
Knack 2 was then released a new year later, and despite reviewing more favourably, the sequel still didn’t set the world alight, scoring 69% on Metacritic. This is probably why the series has been on a five-year hiatus. However, that might be about to change.

Lay Offs:
Between the lines: The cuts, made at a time when the PlayStation business is thriving for Sony, were attributed by leadership to a “global transformation” of the company’s sales and business operations.
One worker who was affected by the layoffs told Axios they were disappointed the company had not told the department about the cuts sooner and felt Sony could have done more to find people alternate roles.
The big picture: The move suggests a shift toward direct-to-consumer marketing and a de-emphasis on retailers and physical game sales.
Current Sony job listings for marketing roles include several positions to sell its subscription services, a clear priority for the company given its announcement Tuesday of the rebranded and reconfigured multi-tiered PlayStation Plus offering.

State of Play:
In 2016, PlayStation made history after becoming the first console manufacturer to enter the world of modern virtual reality gaming with PlayStation VR. In many ways, PlayStation VR was responsible for widely commercializing virtual reality, with PlayStation VR shipping over 5 million units. Since last year Sony has been gearing up to promote PlayStation VR2, the successor to the company's first foray into VR. While it's not known when the device will release, it appears Sony might be gearing up for a big PlayStation VR event soon.
PlayStation VR first released in October 2016 as a PlayStation 4 accessory. The device was supported with major launch titles such as Batman: Arkham VR and Until Dawn: Rush of Blood, and quickly became a success for Sony, with many crediting it with making virtual reality gaming accessible to mainstream audiences, with other headsets at the time requiring expensive gaming PCs. With PlayStation 4 being one of the biggest video game consoles of all time, PSVR was widely adopted and has continued to be supported by developers to this very day, even as Sony prepares PSVR2 for release.
