Playthrough: "Echo: Secrets of the Lost Cavern" Part 1/3
Kheops studio, founded by former Cryo Interactive employees, made this little adventure-game after they finished "Egypt III / The Egyptian Prophecy." Kheops was a small company and asked Totem Studio for the game-design and Mzone for creating the graphics. Kheops would then finally put it all together and polish it.
"Echo" feels mediocre. The story and characters are not that interesting and the puzzle-design and interfaces are too strict and cumbersome to have fun with when solving. What's left? Well, "Echo" is quite unique with it's prehistoric time-period, based on the Lascaux Caverns of France. The image and sound creates the right atmosphere and all feels very relaxed to play. There are no big things at stake here. The small budget and small team creates a small game containing a small story. It just feels like a slice of prehistoric life, I guess. ;-)
This is the original PC-version of 2005. In 2010 a iPhone-version was released, with downgraded puzzles and graphics. Avoid...
