Playtonic's debacle with Jontron, Neogaf, and Team17: An angry rant
During my stream I was asked to comment on Playtonic's recent debacle with pulling Jontron as a voiceactor for their game. I got carried away.
As a sidenote: I don't really hate anyone involved, apart from NeoGaf (if what I speculated was really the case).
In today's times it has become increasingly harder to ignore the political discourse going on, and the internet and social media is to blame for it.
Here's a quick recap of what happened recently: Twitch Streamer and personality Steven 'Destiny' Bonnell II debated Jon 'JonTron' Jafari on his political views after the two had been hurling tweets at each other. As it turned out, Jontron was ill-equipped to deal with Destiny as a debater, since he had been debating people for multiple months now, yet Jontron had never really been in a serious political debate like this before.
As it also turned out, Jontron's spoken words indicated a political position that is a lot more right than what people would like.
After getting himself caught saying terrible thing after terrible thing, the debate ended and the backlash followed.
After being barraged with hate, JonTron decided to put out an open statement as to what his views are, and what happened during the debate, but it did little to quell the people.
Meanwhile Destiny himself was also getting barraged with hate for some reason.
After this went on for a few days, NeoGaf (allegedly) had a lot of it's users bombard Playtonic with hate to try and pressure them into taking actions against Jontron.
Playtonic succumbed to the pressure and ended up pulling Jontron's voiceacting out of the game, which will be applied via a content patch right at release.
The debacle continued at that point with Community Manager(s) of Team17 and various involved people with Team17 and Playtonic basically taunting consumers that lashed out at Playtonic and demanded a refund on their Yooka-Laylee backing (which btw can be done via the backing site, though Playtonic is not obligated to oblige. It's that simple, the fact that this refund desaster is part of this all is laughable). This also included removals of threads and posts, and banning users. The banning and locking apparently originated from a singular Team17 community manager.

The game is Quantum Conundrum btw
