Please explain these sparks in the comments, thanks

They shoot out from the wood stove, but they don't always originate from inside the stove. Some of them just appear. I've never had them shoot out this far before. They are cool to the touch if they hit my skin. They don't burn my shirt, or the carpet. What causes this?
