Pnickies [ぷにっきいず] Game Sample - Arcade
Crazy name for a game, huh? Pnickies is a straightforward and simple drop puzzler developed by Compile in 1994 and manufactured on Capcom's CPS1 system. In the game, you are given different colored blobs that will or will not contain stars in them. To make eliminations, the player must make a formation with at least two stars of the same color. While the game does possess the ability to make chains, the prime objective of the game is to make a single mass as large as possible before clearing it to earn the most points. For the purpose of this video however, the game is simply played casually to show the progression of the single player mode, which features 100 levels. I did not want to make masses too large and skip over some of the levels.
The game features two other modes as well: Two Player Battle and Two Player Play. In Battle Mode, different character artwork is used and the characters have voices, changing what they say depending on the size of your mass. Junk is also dropped in the opponent depending on the chain accordingly. Two Player Play is simply the main game, but where both players try to win and/or last the longest. The main game presents more obstacles (color variations) and new artworks the further the player gets. The main game and battle mode feature a different tune.
This is a simple video of the game in action. Enjoy.
