"Tasogare no Kuni no Futago Miko" (or "Twin Miko in the Land of Twilight") is another game by Shiro-Yume-Kan, and one of the games they've made that's spent the most time in development, receiving several updates and revisions. The game is described as a "Visual Novel 2.5D Action RPG" that expands upon the concepts found in "Meikyuu no Miu" while introducing new characters and mechanics , improved audio/visuals, a much broader story, and a concept that has rarely been explored within the doujin community; character swapping and 2.5D gameplay. The result? One of the more memorable doujin titles currently available.

The game takes place towards the end of the 21st century, in which society has acknowledged its rapid decline, the gap between the rich and poor knows no bounds, and where people are accepting that the world's end is near under the current regime. The social system was near the point of disrepair, many industries and cultures disappeared, and at the center of this conflict were two twin sisters and best friends, Yura and Kaya. Yura, the older sister, was strong and brave, but Kaya, the younger sister, was frail and constantly undergoing medical treatments in a secluded village within the heart of the mountains. Because of their circumstances, the two could only meet during summer and winter vacation, and this strained relationship lasted for eight years...

"I am alone..." Yura muttered one day. You see, Yura led a relatively "normal" life by today's standards, going to school in the city, but her life was still very unpleasant. Humans had their own problems to worry about and any positivity they displayed was merely a deceptive front to conceal the fact that the world was continuing to decline. Life for Yura only seemed like it would get worse, until one day, she received an unexpected letter-- a Mysterious Yin-Yang Fortune-Telling Group needs Yura to return to the mountains and informs her that Kaya has secretly been trained in the ascetic practices of Yin and Yang in the mountain village! Now the two set forth on a quest throughout Japan to gather sacred cards and artifacts where they learn that more events are in motion than they can shake a gun or scythe at.

The core gameplay is similar to "Meikyuu no Miu"; cards can be collected, purchased, and equipped, and the gameplay consists of platforming, destroying obstacles, leveling, getting ability upgrades, and card-based fighting and tactics. However, the game also features many additions. The biggest addition is that your abilities are now split between two characters, the twins (or others that you can "Member Change" with later), where Yura mainly specializes in long-range physical attacks and Kaya specializes in close-range magical attacks (Miu shared both types). Two characters are typically used at all times and you can switch on the fly, where one character acts as a supporting A.I. character. Characters move on a 2D plane, but there are various instances where you can move to another plane (where the game rotates 180 degrees) and other instances where the two must separate to solve puzzles. Characters can also get special items that change their appearance, which are a little more unique than those found in MnM, and cards that can boost attributes and alter elemental properties.

Boss fights are also different now. In this game, characters can move freely on a "3D" plane and attack, but can also "Lock-On" to run around bosses and evade attacks. It can be loosely compared to Sega's "Dark Edge". Like MnM, bosses change their attacks as their health and cards run low, but the player can now see enemies' cards and HP as well. The game also has places to interact with characters and a new world map, and also allows the player to save on thirty more slots. While the game is a little perplexing and disorientating at times, the game as a whole is detail-orientated and a great doujin title. I'm not sure if I'll offer this game right now as it's newer than MnM and there was no notice that states the game won't be distributed at later Comikets, though only their latest game is offered on DLSite.
