This is the first mono-species team I've faced I believe, and it's very cool that my first is a Raticate squad. I was very excited to fight it to see how versatile it was. I felt a little bad about choosing the three Pokemon that can take the majority of Raticate's attacks, but had I selected the other three, I not only would've disrespected my opponent by weakening my selection, but I would have been foolish for leaving the ones that can normally handle Raticate on the bench.

Dustox would give Guts Raticate a boost and Mantine is just used way too often. I could've pulled out Miltank for Sub-Punch, but I hate putting up Substitutes unless I know Miltank would be able to survive an attack with enough health. I knew Reversal would be used. Lunatone, Skarmory, and Registeel were my obvious picks.

In mono-species teams, it's usually important to have different strategies. I'd imagine it'd be hard to do with Raticate since its special attack isn't very high nor are its defenses. Despite using a fairly limiting Pokemon, Gorou made it work and put up a great fight. I was a little confused about the switch at the end, however...but after thinking about it, he could have assumed that my Skarmory was just like any other Stealth Rock/Spikes set up. Funny thing is, if my Skarmory DID carry a standard set, I could've lost.

@Gorou chose - Raticate, Raticate, and Raticate
