All right, we got a new F2P sync pair and Molayne might be unironically good for minimal Full-Forces.
Molayne is a striker, disappointingly. First F2P Steel. Molayne's kit includes Metal Claw for a slow, spammy 1 bar move and Iron Head for a reliable 3 bar move with a useful side effect. Molayne buffs all his important stats barring crit with no downsides which is nice. His passives might as well not exist because one triggers randomly when he gets hit for a borderline useless Speed drop and the other triggers when he dies. Thanks but no thanks. Iron Head is one of the lower 3 bar BP moves and lack of multipliers hurt Molayne's output so he steers into the weak side of things unfortunately.
Dugtrio is built like it does in main games: decent Attack, great Speed, atrocious bulk. Dugtrio owns the dubious honor of having the lowest HP stat in PM. His decent defenses and magnificent hairdo mitigate that but Molayne is prone to getting sniped by syncs.
I have no major complaints about Molayne. He could be worse and there are worse 3* gachas (do not disrespect Wulfric in this house please). What I like about Molayne is that he is the first F2P striker who doesn't have roundabout issues when clicking moves. He attacks and you get your fucking damage. No recoil, no confusion, no defense drops, no misses, no Sp.Atk drops. You click Iron Head and it's good damage. It's unreal how long it took for a F2P striker to be like this. Just this fact makes me appreciate him as a unit.
As far as this battle goes I've seen people pair Molayne with Steven to aid with gauge but I wanted Molayne to have more of a spotlight. I nerfed the team by using Jasmine as a partner instead. +60 HP from Type Skills is quite handy and Jasmine is eternally grateful for Molayne's Atk boost which bumps her dummy low Atk to an acceptable level.
At first I was running Iron Tail which was of course outputting more than Molayne. I would've kept it but I was dying to Bewear often. Molayne normally fell to 2nd sync (even at +6 Def the sync does more than Dugtrio's max HP) so I chose to run a Gyro Ball build to improve my gauge generation which opened room for Clang! Lockstep as well.
Lyra is Lyraing. Molayne and Jasmine need crit of course and Meganium is instrumental in taking down Bewear because he is squishy on the special side.
This attempt was a little unpolished but Dugtrio survived after flinching an isolated Bewear which is good enough for me. The early damage on Steelix set-up a Last Word which saved Dugtrio's life.
Molayne just wants a grid and he'll be good to go. As is he is a functional striker but he'll probably get Harry 2 or some dumb garbage.
