This is a playthrough of the first Pokémon Scarlet DLC expansion, The Teal Mask.

Wrapping up the FCPlaythroughs coverage of the first DLC release is the Bloodmoon Beast quest starring a new form of an ancient Hisuian Pokémon - followed by a brief sampler of some new clothing provided by the Teal Style Card and the remaining encounters with Billy and O'Nare, the wealthy couple we met earlier on.

This is where I was planning on summing up my thoughts on The Teal Mask, but on reflection... it's hard to put into words. While I really enjoyed the DLC expansions for Pokémon Sword and Shield to the point where they improved my overall impression of the games after playing them, this time around it just feels like more of the same. If you enjoy the gameplay loop from the base game then you'll enjoy this, since the main meat of the expansion is having more areas to explore and more Pokémon to catch, but it comes with the same caveats as the base game too. The framerate is still horrendous, the visuals are rough even compared to other Switch Pokémon games, and everything just feels clunkier than it should.

The Pokémon Scarlet playthrough will continue shortly after the release of the second and final DLC expansion, The Indigo Disk, which is due in the Winter. I'm intrigued where the story will go next since they've teased Kieran's return, and it seems like it's going to fill in some of the remaining gaps in the Area Zero lore. Part of it's also set in Unova, which I find very interesting.
