Pokemon Violet - 7* Metagross the Unrivaled (2) with Bellibolt and Skeledirge
Frankly, these strats are so basic that I'm shocked they worked. Also, they're both weak to ground so you definitely want AI Arboliva to help survive!
0:00 - Bellibolt
With a metronome doubling damage plus grassy terrain (and a defense cheer) reducing damage, Bellibolt can just barely outheal damage taken with Parabolic Charge... I go for a cheeky Zap Cannon at the start to build up tera charge plus allow me to outspeed, and while I'd normally have a turn or two after building up charge to use cheers before fainting, in this case an unlucky crit finished me off. Ah well.
I brought Charge Beam, since it has a 70% chance to buff SpA, but in the end I never had a turn where I felt comfortable gambling on that... Sure would've been nice though, given how close the timer was!
7:56 - Skeledirge
Modest Skeledirge wants 36 Spe EVs in order to outspeed Metagross!
Unaware doesn't really help you ignore the +4 Def since, y'know, you're using special attacks, but at least it lets you ignore attack boosts! Skeledirge's ramping special attack is also nice.
I fish for a burn with Flamethrower at the start (20% chance), but only afterwards did I learn that Scorching Sands' 30% chance is even better! Oops. If you don't get the burn then you can probably cheer then faint, but in this case I didn't. Alternatively, you can Protect on the first turn (before the defense cheer and grassy terrain reduce damage) and reliably survive.
Speaking of, since the shield-break skipped turn wasn't immediately followed by the buffwipe in this run (I was unlucky and its health landed between 75% and 70%, I guess?), I resorted to using Protect in order to survive on the one turn without Unaware. If you didn't have AI Drifblim then you'd probably want to pack Will-'o-wisp for burn, but since I did I just brought Slack Off instead (and never used it). Maybe Curse's defense buff could be useful... but not outspeeding anymore might become an issue, so I didn't bother.
What other strats could work for this... Sacred Sword exists but Metagross's coverage is good enough that you'd probably have to run Cobalion. Maybe a special ground attacker would work? You might be able to go for an Ursaluna oneshot too... Iunno, I might record more runs.
