Challenge Mode is an in-game difficulty option, only available on Black 2/White 2. In it, all levels of opposing trainer Pokemon are rasied (by 1-5), all Gym Leaders and Elite Four members get 1 more Pokemon, better movesets on their Pokemon, and IVs are all increased to 30 for all their Pokemon.

This changes the run quite drastically, as while Tepig is still the starter of choice, it is no longer capable of beating the game (in any fast manner anyway) as it gets destroyed by pretty much everyone after Burgh. As such, the main Pokemon is switched to the only other candidate that was an option for Normal Mode and is far and away the best, Excadrill. This also works out really nicely in Challenge Mode as the increase in levels means you get Excadrill sooner.

This makes the run way harder to optimise though, as you can't RNG Manip Excadril's stats. So many runs are ruined at the catching Drilbur stage, either it doesn't show up (Shards, Onix, no Dust Clouds), or it has shit stats. Good speed and attack are pretty much required, and if Defense isn't good you'll be losing minutes throughout the run too, especially at Elesa. This Drilbur was really good though, one of the reasons I am satisfied with this run.

(I actually got this run a few weeks ago, but my local recording broke. I tried to repair it but to no avail, so this is just a straight recording of my live stream of the run, so the quality might not be as good, and there might be a few lag spots here and there)
