The Wedlocke challenge is a variation on the popular Nuzlocke challenge, adding to the difficulty and randomness by restricting which Pokémon you can use together in battle.
Extra rules I'm using, on top of the usual rules:
• Dupes Clause limit of 5 (can't trigger Dupes Clause more than 5 times; Gender Clause is counted first and separately from this limit).
• No Forced Encounters: I must KO the forced Pidgey on Route 2 & forced Snorlax on Route 7. These do not count as my encounters.
• Gift Clause: Pokémon given to me do not count as encounters and are freebies. Realistically this only affects Lapras on Route 12.
• Shiny Clause: If I encounter a Shiny Pokémon, I can catch it anyway. It can replace either a Pokémon I've already caught or my encounter for the next area (or just treat it as a trophy).
• No items can be used from the bag during battle, except any kind of Poké Balls. (Held items can be used.)
• Level limit: I can't use Pokémon higher than the level limit shown on the side, which is the highest level of the upcoming Gym Leader's highest level Pokémon. Exception: after earning all Badges, the limit is for BEFORE challenging the Elite Four (no limit afterwards, since EXP gain is uncertain). The limits are: 12, 25, 32, 34, 37, 42, 48, 59, and then capped at 65 before the Elite Four.
• PSS, Pokémon-Amie, and Super Training are not allowed. (Exceptions: to evolve Pokémon, such as by trading or in the case of Sylveon, in which case it can be traded to a different game, given Amie hearts, evolved, and traded back so there is no Amie bonus.)
• Mega Evolution is not allowed, except in the forced fight in the Tower of Mastery.
• Any Trainer that I personally recognize as a "Trainer of Death" must be fought before proceeding past that area.
• The Exp. Share cannot be used.
