Pokemon Yellow Version: Special Pikachu Edition (known in Japan as Pocket Monsters: Pikachu) is an RPG game developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo in 1999 for the Gameboy. This version features enhanced sprites and the additions of Officer Jenny and Nurse Joy. Players start in Pallet Town and must journey through Kanto to fill their pokedex while battling 8 gym leaders and finally the Elite Four. Instead of choosing between charmander, bulbasaur, and squirtle, players are given a pikachu at the start of the game while the rival is given an eevee. Pikachu cannot be evolved or released and follows the player around instead of residing in a pokeball.
