PolyNerdic Play Test: Days Gone
0Join me as I take a look at Sony's latest exclusive, Days Gone. the biker v zombie...excuse me, Freaker game.
The game stars Deacon St. John, a former biker turned errand runner in the post apocalypse world. He hides in waist high bushes throwing stones until monsters, human and otherwise, get within stabbing reach. When not stealthing around the shrubbery he rides a noisy motorcycle through the woods drawing all sorts of attention to himself as he travels between settlements, doing various tasks for the jerks that live there and selling freaker ears for credits.
The game is absolutely fine. It definitely feels like it is sampling a handful of other games...there is a little Last of Us, a little Far Cry, a little bit of many other games here. I have heard this game called "Triple A the video game" and "a video gamey video game" and I think both descriptions are fair.
In this video you'll see Deek take out some nests, nearly get killed by a horde, mauled by wolves and shot off his bike by a sniper amount other things.
The world of this game is a rough place and may well be my favorite part of it.
