PolyNerdic Play Test: Judgment
If you know me you likely recognize two things about me:
1. I fell in love with the Yakuza franchise last year. Played Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami, Yakuza Kiwami 2 and Yakuza 6 at varying points in 2018, each for the first time and fell deeply in love with the games, instantly marked them as among my favorites of the generation.
2. I am crazy about private eye, detective, noir fiction. Many of the books on my shelves are detective novels from classics like The Big Sleep and Maltese Falcon to contemporary classics like the Spenser series by the late Robert Parker.
Judgment takes those two things, Yakuza style gameplay and noir detective fiction and mashes them together into what very well may be the game of my dreams....or close to it.
I've only played a couple of hours of the game, as you'll see here I'm in the first chapter still but as soon as I saw what Sega made I knew it was more or less tailor made for a guy like me.
