some more potentially great progress - one of the problems I was going to have was to make solid walls for the 3d building spawned in. I thought of using invisible items, but as they are all round, it takes lots to surround a house without the walls being too thick. I was planning on having lots of building sectors pre defined, but I think I might be able to have invisible polyobjects that I can fly into spot.

on the left is the new map generator which is plotting a path and then creating an id based on the connecting road tiles that it can place.
