Porsche's hot-selling Cayenne gets a makeover for 2018
7The Cayenne might be the least Porsche-like model the company makes, but it’s certainly the most popular. Ahead of its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month, Porsche has dropped a handful of official details and images on the new SUV.
The base Cayenne’s turbocharged 3.0L V6 engine has received a 40-horsepower bump to 340, and it will do the zero-to-100 km/h run in 6.2 seconds. The sportier Cayenne S will be shipped with a turbocharged 2.9L V6 with 440 horsepower, similar to the Panamera. This engine is capable of slinging the Cayenne from rest to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds.
Dimensionally, not much has changed. The 2018 Cayenne is 63 millimetres longer, though wheelbase remains the same compared to the outgoing model. The roof is a negligible 9 millimetres lower, and it weighs 1,985 kilograms – hardly a featherweight, but that’s 65 kilos less than the current Cayenne.
The new Cayenne will be available in North America next summer. We’ll bring you more details about it when the Frankfurt Motor Show kicks off in about two weeks.
