First this video just talks about how to do the crouch flying glitch. It then goes through a little theory about why I think things happen the way they do.

At 5:00 it starts talking about offsetting portals, which lets you become crouch flying glitched much faster, and also lets you make some objects fly.

Two things about CFG Theory that I forgot to mention in the video:

1: When you save and load the game, it loses track of which excursion funnel you're in, so flying into one sets your gravity flag to false (it's already false but whatevs) and hooks you up to that tunnel as if you were never glitched in the first place. This is why flying into funnels after saving brings you out of the glitch instead of changing your altitude.

Additionally, you can un-crouch after saving and loading. Usually un-crouching runs the "You exited the excursion funnel" script (Unless you initiated the glitch against a wall. In that case, you end up glitched as long as you remain standing, and crouching ends the glitch). When you save and load the game, your connection to the funnel is gone so it doesn't run that script when you stand up.

2: The gravity flag is attached to your player, not the level or whatever, and if it's set to false, it remains false. That's why you can retain the glitch into the next level if you start it using the main funnel that comes out of the machine. If you use two portals to create a second funnel segment and use that to glitch, it will not be retained into the next level because that segment will be destroyed and set your flag to true when you pass through the emancipation field.
