Portal is a game that was kind of one of those sleeper hits - it jumped straight out of the Orange Box and into everyone's most-played list. The mechanics, especially in Portal 2 as they expanded, were a joy to figure out, and many of the puzzles were a genuine challenge. And then you add on the layer of comedy supplied by GLaDOS and her fellow machines, plus the quirky narrative from the same characters, and you got a wonderfully fun package that has lingered in people's memories since 2007.
But most of all, Portal is remembered for its aesthetic - that stark contrast between the drab, sterile lab environment and the vibrantly coloured portals. That's what Jack has tried to capture in today's cocktail, the Portal Gun.
This sweet and sour drink is bold and bright in its choice of colour, and will definitely catch someone's attention as you serve it across the room. But that doesn't mean we've sacrificed flavour, oh no. With honey, grapefruit, orange and triple sec on a vodka base, this video game libation could be a perfect summer refresher or a hearty winter warmer no matter what time of year you're shooting Portals at every wall in sight.
INGREDIENTS
2 oz vodka
0.5 oz triple sec
0.5 oz honey simple syrup
2 oz orange juice
1 oz red grapefruit juice
