Possible sign of life found on exoplanet K2-18b
K2-18b is a fascinating exoplanet that orbits a red dwarf star called K2-18, located in the constellation Leo, about 124 light-years from Earth. It is known to be one of the few exoplanets in the habitable zone of its star, meaning it could be suitable for the existence of liquid water and, potentially, life.
This planet is about 2.6 times larger than Earth and has a mass approximately 8.6 times greater. Recent observations by the James Webb Space Telescope have revealed the presence of carbon-containing molecules, such as methane and carbon dioxide, in its atmosphere, as well as evidence of a global ocean beneath a hydrogen-rich atmosphere.
