Most distant galaxy in the Universe has oxygen JADES GS z14 0
The JADES-GS-z14-0 galaxy is the most distant galaxy ever discovered, located 13.4 billion light-years from Earth. It was first detected in 2024 by the James Webb Space Telescope, which observes the universe in infrared light. This galaxy formed just 300 million years after the Big Bang, which occurred about 13.8 billion years ago.
What makes this discovery even more fascinating is the presence of oxygen and heavy metals in the galaxy, something unexpected for such an early time in the universe. This suggests that galaxies may have formed and evolved more quickly than previously thought.
