(Possibly) Final Word On The Desync
Yeah just listen lol. In short, I found out what causes the desync and may or may not have a way to fix it. Whether the method works or not, I won't worry too much over it. This minor issue really isn't a big deal to me anymore.
Edit: GAAAHHH actually something needs to be said, I won't be bringing it up in a vid but games recorded while wearing headphones MAY not undergo this process. The reason being I found out Audacity can't record two audio tracks at once, therefore I have no choice but to use Bandicam's audio recording. I may still be able to do something though, like re-record the audio track with Audacity while playing the clip in WMM (which was actually one of the things I did in the past in an attempt to fix desync, back when I thought WMM wasn't keeping changes I made in the timeline..which I may have only made mention of back during the now-gone IWBTE run. Basically I tried re-recording audio after making the edits then putting THAT track over the video. Obviously it still didn't fix things due to the REAL problem with desync. Now, however, that technique may be useful.) At any rate, nothing more needs to be said lol. You guys dont care how I do it I'm sure, you just care about the results and the videos, so we'll see if it works or not. Once I'm sure it does or doesn't, I'll update this descrip.
Edit: Confirmed that it works. Used part 1 of The Crooked Man as a sort of test subject to figure out the proper amount of time to set the audio ahead to make YT sync it up, and it seems 0.13 seconds made it almost spot-on. It's only VERY slightly off. You can only really tell if you play it very slow or pause/resume frequently. That was close enough to conclude this could work, hence why I just let it go instead of changing it again. Next time I'll try 0.17, should make it sync right up. If it doesn't, I'll just keep going a bit higher with each video until it does.
At any rate, from this point on, I really won't worry so much about desync. Really, the desync itself didn't bother me anymore; but I needed an answer. I needed to know if this would truly fix it, and it seems it does. So if any NOTICABLE desync is heard from this point on is totally on me; if there's a bit of it somewhere, it only means I goofed slightly in editing. Either that or its one of the rare uploads where it actually keeps sound in sync (which would result in it being slightly ahead lol)
This is the last I'm talking about desync, hopefully. I had already decided that it didn't bug me greatly anymore, but I at least wanted to know and understand WHAT was causing it, and actually be ABLE to fix it to the best of my ability. I didn't want to just leave the mystery behind. Now that I know, I truly can close the book on this and get back to just having fun making videos, and if some bigger desync slips through then I can just take it in stride. Not every video can be perfect (heck none of them are lol, "perfect" literally means absolutely no flaws in any way), and as I've said before, I've come to understand you guys don't expect perfection from me. I will fix things to the best of my ability but if something's still a bit off, I won't obsess on fixing it..I don't have to, and I know you guys wouldn't want me to either.
Most of you probably don't believe this. Most of you probably think I'll make another video about desync. Who knows? Maybe I will. But, I don't think I will. Only time will tell.
I know I've been completely OCD about this, I'm sorry. Even though the desync didn't personally bother me anymore, I still couldn't let this go until I at least found out what causes it. Now that I have, and have a working fix to boot, I finally can relax about it, enjoy making videos, take any small mistakes I make with syncing in stride, and just have fun.
