[Synopsis]

This video shows you how you can use a SBC(single board computer), like a Raspberry Pi 4 in conjunction with a desktop computer to save some money. The point of this video isn't to replace a desktop computer with a X64 processor, yet it is to use both in conjunction to each others deficiencies. For me, I leave my computer on for about 15 hours a day, and I use my desktop computer for about 4 hours for actual work. The rest of the time isn't used to do work, it is used for reading articles on web pages, streaming videos, online shopping, checking emails, social media, etc. For most people, the computer is like what the telephone was to people who lived in the 1970s to 1990s. The computer is a device most people use to interface with the outside world.

It would be more efficient to use a single board computer whether that be a Odroid C4, or a Raspberry Pi 4 to do more of the simpler every day tasks. Since the SBC(single board computer) uses about 17.8% of the power a desktop uses with a monitor, you can save a lot of money by employing a SBC for this purpose. If it cost $271 to run a desktop computer 15 hours a day for 365 days, the cost of running a SBC for 11 hours and a desktop for 4 hours would cost about $108. I would have saved $163 in a year, and in one year time I could recoup my investment. After the 1st year, it would pay for itself, so you would be earning money. I do see a future for SBCs in the future, it has the same processor as a smartphone, but it can do much more. Although it does have its limitations, it can be used around your home as a media center, a retro video gaming device, a cheap low powered file server, and a 2ndry computer linked to your main computer via switches.
