Practicing the Special Rank Flooded City DLC Arena (2B w/Debug) - NieR: Automata
So... here it is. This is the ridiculously hard Special Rank arena for the Flooded City's DLC colosseum. This here is the baddest of the bad. I believe that these are supposed to be the most deranged machines in the game, driven to madness by being forced to fight by these corrupted Resistance androids, over and over again. You can hear it in their dialogue. They've been broken. They've let go. They only exist to fight. They don't care about anything anymore.
And holy hell does it show. I don't think there is a SINGLE machine that's under Lv130. Without a fully offensive loadout, they take FOREVER to kill. And even if you try going fully defensive with x2 HP and 80% damage reduction WHILE playing on Easy, small hits will still do 40%, medium hits will do 60%, and the rest will just oneshot you. Meanwhile, going fully defensive makes the enemies just take 50x longer for YOU to kill. It's not worth it.
Though of course, I used Debug Mode to up 2B's damage - on top of an offensive loadout - to make them go down much quicker. I think her damage with Debug Mode might actually be higher than A2 with Berserk Mode normally. And as I said at the end of the video, the enemies may have been accidentally set to Max Stun with Debug too. The options are right next to each other.
Anyway I do think this arena is a fun concept. Seeing that Goliath Tank, Simone, Father Servo, Ko-Shi/Ro-Shi, and Adam + Eve in Shade form as a callback to NieR Gestalt was a really nice touch, and the other Shade-like enemies were cool too. They had a sinister vibe to them and had me wondering... what the hell was done to them to make them like that.
The downside is that - the fact that you will be oneshotted by pretty much everything no matter your setup... it encourages you to just go full offensive and fight the arena's oneshot mechanics with your own. However, given that the arena's time limit is a full hour (while the Forest DLC's Special Rank arena's time limit was 8 minutes, and the Desert's was 5 minutes), it seems like the devs intended for this to be a long gauntlet of attrition, but the oneshot mechanics go against that design, kinda causing the experience to fall short of what they wanted.
Because as cool as the enemies and overall tone and feeling of the arena are spot on, oneshot gameplay isn't exactly what I consider "fun".
Anyway, this was me "dipping my toe" into this DLC arena. I'd talked about it before. I tested a defensive setup as 9S to see how much damage he took on Easy, but never intended to try beating it with him... or at all. I beat the Goliath Shade Tank with him and his defensive setup, which awarded me all the Neon Hair Dye, and was perfectly fine with that.
But I guess, now that I did it as 2B with the help of Debug Mode, I need to step up and actually try it for real, just to say "I did it".
However, in the interest of putting that off as long as possible, there's another DLC-related matter to focus my attention on first...
