Machine Research Report | What A Twist! - NieR: Automata
See? Even after the ending, I'm back with more Automata stuff, just like I said I would! And this here can serve as a vital protip for fully completing everything, since I very well could've missed this if I wasn't so curious.
So, both Ending C and Ending D have their own rewards that you receive for getting them. Maybe if you get Ending E and choose not to delete your save, you'll get the rewards for whichever ending you got that led into E, but either way, you wanna make sure you get the rewards for both.
I'm also really glad this reward turned out to be an archive, because I was going crazy trying to figure out where I might've missed one.
Anyway, we learn that the reason that machines were acting oddly human was because the core of their data banks had all the records of humanity past, or as Jackass said, "The ghost of humanity at its core", so it was almost like... fighting humans?
No wonder the machines in the desert, who were obsessed with families and children (remember the orgy?), gave birth to human-looking machines - Adam and Eve.
Also, upon thinking about it, the "old model" seems to be referring to the old model of the machine's network, and not the old computer from NieR Gestalt. Although, the Tower DOES strangely remind me of the Sacred Tree, both in structure and function...
And this whole time, the machines were purposely limiting themselves in order to make sure the androids constantly "won", so they'd always have an objective to carry out. So this war was not only a fake because both the aliens and humans (who were being fought FOR) were dead, but it was even more fake because machines ALREADY KNEW THAT and were just perpetuating the war so that they'd always have an enemy to fight and carry out their objective.
They were toying with the androids while having the androids essentially play "make-believe" without the androids even knowing it. So, while being kicked in the balls, another foot sprouted from that foot and further kicked us up through into our ass. It was a double nut-kicking!
The REAL twist, though - that I'm referring to in my title - was that JACKASS was the info broker who uncovered all this. She seems like the type who's not one for careful thought and rather just likes blowing s*** up. But then, she's proven to be intelligent before, with her bomb-making skills. Anyway, it made this whole reveal a bit less of a nut-kick with some much appreciated kick-ass comic relief.
And still, there is so much more!
