No more turning cranks, if you're willing to do two rather difficult jumps in its stead. The first jump saves maybe 30-40 seconds (puzzle + platforming). Second jump? I'm not sure, I never did the puzzle, but I would suspect it saves even more because the puzzle is more complex.

The first jump is ultimately the harder. The sides of the upper balcony are stridden with insta-death goo, but somehow Prince manages to avoid it by jumping at a correct spot. There may be some collision glitch involved, seeing how Prince latches onto the wall twice.

Second jump is just jumping at a correct angle over the insta-death goo, then wall jumping to grab the balcony ledge.
