Today (July 7) in Japan is the day of the Star Festival or Tanabata (even if the celebration is held at various days between July and August). This is a romantic holiday based on an ancient legend from China that falls on the seventh day of the seventh month. According to the legend, Hikoboshi (Altair) and Orihime (Vega) fell in love and spent all their time together, losing interest in their work. Enraged by their negligence, the king of heaven banished them to opposite sides of the Milky Way. Since then, the two lovers have been allowed to cross the Milky Way only once a year to meet each other on Tanabata. This is why people pray for a clear night on July 7th, so that the heavenly lovers will be able to meet again.

To celebrate this romantic love I've created this AMV that tells the sad love story of two other lovers: Princess Ashura and Prince Yasha. I was inspired by their story in Tsubasa Chronicle, but I've also changed it a little and so recreated a new story (not a real crossover amv, but anyway I've used many different anime).

The amv starts with a dream... the dream of the love story between Ashura and Yasha. They lived in two faraway countries. They fell in love, but one day a war began between Princess Ashura and the King who ruled over Prince Yasha's country (the King was his uncle who had gained the power with violence and ruled with cruelty). The King cursed Prince Yasha to die, because he had refused to fight against his beloved Ashura in an unfair war. So Yasha, who knew his death was near due to the curse, asked Ashura to kill him in battle and so win the war against his cruel uncle. At last the princess, heartbroken, killed him and won the battle against the King. Then she decided to put an end to her life and destroyed the magic land that was the cause of the war... so the peace would reign hereafter in their countries.
She died while thinking of Prince Yasha and remembering his last words.
