Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal was in Afghanistan today visiting British troops ahead of the Christmas weekend.

Princess Anne and her husband Vice Admiral Sir Tim Lawrence spent the day at Camp Bastion.

The Princess Royal currently holds over twenty honorary positions with various military units across the Commonwealth.

One of those is as Royal Colonel of the Royal Scots Borderers, 1st Battalion the Royal Regiment of Scotland who are working as the Brigade Advisory group, training the Afghan National Army.

As well as visiting Tombstone and neighbouring Shorabak, the Princes Royal spent time with the Theatre Military Working Dogs Unit, the Theatre Log Group and 12 LSR, the Logistic Support Regiment.

The Role 3 Field Hospital and the Joint Aviation Group, the JAG, were last on her list before flying home.
