The latest Patch update for ARK is v248 which introduces Procedurally Generated Maps (PGM) in to the game. This means that you can create an infinite number of maps with many different settings. You can save these and share them with other people.

Currently PGMs can be used on Single Player, Private Servers and Extinction Servers. Patch v248 also introduces 3 new creatures: Kaprosuchus, Diplocalus and Chalicotherium. It also introduces Explorer Notes.

In this video I take a first look at the new PGMs and what maps it can generate.

ARK Scorched Earth is a brand new Expansion Pack for the game ARK Survival Evolved. This expansion was released on 1st Sep for both Steam and Xbox One.

ARK Scorched Earth expands the ARK world by adding a completely new map that contains a desert biome, hence the name Scorched Earth. You can access Scorched Earth from the main Island and Center maps by uploading your character at the Obelisk or Drops and then respawning your character over on the Scorched Earth map.

You cannot transfer any dinos or resources to Scorched Earth, only your survivor, but you retain the levels already obtained. If you want to move back to the Island you can travel the exact same way, however you are able to transfer dinos and resources from Scorched Earth to the Island/Center.

ARK Scorched Earth brings you 14 new creatures unique to the map and not the ARK Island. It also brings approx 50 new resources/items and it has 7 biomes.
