Project Brutality is in my opinion a better alternative to Brutal Doom, it's an enhanced version but also much more enjoyable with a faster pace of gameplay. Rifle doesn't have so big spread like in BDoom v20, Chainsaw is so cool to use that killing Demons with swings is enjoyable. There are also tons of new weapons and even monsters, their spawning depends on your level progression. So for example, all monsters have got stronger versions like Zombies with automatic shotguns, Imps with homing fireballs or flying Barons of Hell. There are also some interesting eye candies like Imps which can crawl on ceilings, they are really dangerous right now, but even one shot when they crawl can kill them.

John Romero has released some alpha/beta version of maps for the Ultimate Doom and Doom II Hell on Earth at the Doomworlds forums right here http://www.doomworld.com/vb/doom-general/72509-more-goodies-from-romero-doomed-source-maps-graphics/ . You can notice there a lot of unused sprites, textures and fonts which were scrapped long before the release of both Ultimate Doom and Doom II Hell On Earth. In this quite short video I showcase to you first seven maps of Doom II Hell On Earth from Entryway till Dead Simple that has no exit at all (maybe because Dead Simple was only designed to be a typical Deathmatch map). As you can notice, in some places maps don't even look like from Earth but much more like from the 4th Episode of the Ultimate Doom, especially level 3 called the Gantlet. Also, Archvile in level 3 is a big big big leap in difficulty. By the way, I'm a big fan of Ultimate Doom levels design, while I hate levels from Doom 2 but I love monsters from that game.

Weapons, weapons... there are of them with multiple modes! Akimbo pistols, silencer for pistols, akimbo Plasma and Assault Rifles, grenade launchers, rocket launcher with laser guide, Black Hole Generator and even more. You really must try this mod!
