Introducing Project Leviathan!!
This PlayStation 4 Pro mod ties direct inspiration from the God of War, the 2018 release from Santa Monica Studios.
The PS4 Pro is a steely purple with gold symbols mirroring that of the Fire Troll seen in the E3 2017 Trailer and Gameplay Demo. In this footage you see Kratos destroy the Fire Troll with the newest weapon in the franchise, the Leviathan Axe. Here lies the key inspiration for this build.
The hand-made replica of the Leviathan Axe is plunged into the PS4 Pro, representing the chest of Kratos’ new foe, creating an in God of War fashion gory mess.
Just like the game the axe pulsates and glows with a magical icy blue, giving a haunting feeling that something is about to go down. With any good console, a matching controller is a must. Taking direct inspiration from the Anti-hero himself, the controller sees the ashy white of Kratos along with his signature red tattoo and scars. The scar itself is no paint trickery. It has been literally etched out of the controller plastic for the most authentic look possible.
This project presented a few new challenges and really tested my carving and painting skills, as I have never attempted to replicate realistic blood or wood carving before. The Dremel became my best friend for carving the dragon head into the handle of the axe, adding the touches to the Leviathan that really finish it off.
