In all previous videos, I used cheats to create materials when needed and destroy them when no longer needed. I tried to solve that today by recycling the items from the top back to the bottom. Sound easy right. Well it's not that simple.

let's do some approximations.

It takes some time for items to go all the way around. Let's say it takes 1 minute for a complete cycle. Let's say 10 frames happen in that time. That means you need to buffer enough items to be able to produce those 10 frames. Each frame has a resolution of 144x256. That means we would need to buffer 144x256x10 = 368 640 items. However we need more than one type of item. Each item represents a different color. We do not know in advance what colors the next frames will use, so we need a buffer for each different item. Lets say we support 48 different colors. That would mean we need a buffer of 48 x 368640 = 17 694 720 items at a minimum. We can't use storage chest and we can't put the provider chests too far away because that means the bots need to travel further, so they use up more power per item, so they need to recharge more often, we can no longer recharge enough bots at the same time. I tried solving this using cars on belts. They both transport the items, and act as giant buffers. My current implementation however is not good enough. I think I'm going to postpone the logistics until later and continue using cheats for the time being.
