[PS1] Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure (Localization Prototype)
Behold! Here's an 18 minute video showcasing the localization prototype of "Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure" for the Sony PlayStation. Both the "Reviewable Copy" and the "Promotional Copy Original Game Soundtrack" were purchased for large sums of Inotium by yours truly. Sadly, I'll never be as rich as Etoile Rosenqueen. Oh ho ho ho ho... hum...

The localization prototype has more pop culture references and crude humor in the localized translation before Atlus changed or removed some of the dialogue. Here are a few examples:
- "What a girl wants, what a girl needs..." was a reference to a popular hit by Christina Aguilera back in 1999. This spoken line from Kururu was omitted in the retail version.
- The line "Happy, happy, joy, joy!" was a reference to the song from the show "Ren and Stimpy". "Joy, joy!" was cut.
- "I'm gonna bust out the people's elbow..." was a reference to a finishing move from WWE Superstar / actor 'Dwayne 'The Rock" Johnson. Myao's line was changed to "I'm gonna beat you up!"
- Kururu's dialogue: "Well standing around with our thumbs up our butts won't do us any good" was changed to "well standing around won't do us any good.".
- Lastly, Cornet's "bleeped" profanity from the Japanese version were originally going to be brought in to the English version. This was changed to presumably keep the "Everyone" rating.
It's such a shame that the crude humor, Cornet's "bleeped" profanity and the pop culture extras didn't make it in the final game.
The localization prototype has already been dumped and there will be plans for release on Archive.org very soon. Stay tuned!
Played on actual Sony PlayStation (SCPH-9001) hardware and captured via a GV-USB2 capture device using S-Video. No emulation was used during the making of this video.
