I was sincerely hoping the LensCrafters Bomb would be one of the thumbnail images.
Yes, an onslaught of an infinite number of protons (and we know that AIM can produce that many) would destroy anything, even the planet itself and including Iron Man. Fortunately, they choose not to use it (and we know AIM is bashful when it comes to organizing large numbers of things) and simply provide *enough* protons to only kill Iron Man briefly.
The color of a proton beam depends upon the medium in which it is interacting and would probably behave like a thunderbolt except a gassy thunderbolt that releases hydrogen gas afterwards... maybe.
