PS3 HDD vs SSD Speed Tests: Installing All 4 One
In this series we test the installation and loading times of various PS3 games between different HDD types.

System Specs:
All systems used disc ISO on HDD.
PS3 #1 with Stock HDD 5400rpm: CECH-3001, HEN 3.2.2
PS3 #2 with HDD 7200rpm: CECH-2501, Rebug D-REX 4.84.2
PS3 #3 with SSD Silicon Power (3D NAND A55 SLC Cache): CECHG01, Rebug D-REX 4.84.2
PS3 #4 with SSD Samsung 870 EVO: CECH-2501, Rebug D-REX 4.84.2
FAQs:
"Um. PS3 is SATA 1, it won't max out a SSD's full capabilities so getting a SSD and/or getting a brand name SSD is a waste on PS3."
Not quite. While you won't get the full bandwidth the SSD is capable of due to the old SATA versions in use on PS3, Random Read/Writes speed and reliable Cache is still a big factor in the overall speed the system attains. HDDs just can't attain the instantaneous read/writes that SSDs can do.
-- For SSD brands, some brands use SLC or equivalent cache, which makes writes extremely slow - possibly even slower than HDD - once cache is full, so it's better to get a good brand. This is why these tests include a brand that uses slower tech.
