So basically you just wanna get your HP as high as possible. I used multiple HP Up materia. Personally I don't find magic attacks very useful against him so plan out your battle for dealing physical abuse, and definitely LEARN HIS ATTACKS so you know which ones to dodge, which ones to block with Cloud's Punisher Mode, and when to just lean in and whoop some ass. I love Cloud's Triple Strike and Braver, Tifa's True Strike, and Barret's Maximum Fury. Just learn which moment you can land them at, as some of Bahamut's attacks will interrupt them and you don't have time for that shit.
When he counts down to One, you have a little bit of time to make sure you have as many members of your party at least at 8900 HP as possible, but also using items that let you instantly revive, like revival earings, or use a weapon on which you have unlocked the Reprieve skill. It's ok if one or two of your members dies, just use Arise on your MAX Healing Mateira to revive them with full health. Don't worry about using lots of MP for health and revival. It's just the fighting simulator.
