“Studio Rumoured to Be Remaking Metal Gear Solid 3 Is Working on a AAA Remake. An employee from Virtuos, the studio rumoured to be remaking Metal Gear Solid 3, has confirmed that the developer is working on an unannounced AAA action-adventure game remake. As spotted by Twitter user Faizan Shaikh (and reported by VGC), Virtuos lead programmer Zhiyang Li references the AAA remake in his LinkedIn profile - stating to have been working on the project since 2018. As per the description of Li's role at the studio, it seems that the remake will include "4K support on certain platforms" as well as "AAA quality art production" and "set piece destruction". While it isn't yet clear the game that Li is referring to, reports surfaced earlier this month suggesting that Konami is planning remasters of the original Metal Gear Solid games for new consoles, as well as a potential full remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater rumoured to be in the works from Virtuos. As for Virtuos itself, the studio is no stranger to working on AAA games. Previously, the developer worked on the Nintendo Switch port of Dark Souls Remastered and has additionally contributed to a number of other high profile titles including Uncharted 4, Call of Duty Black Ops 4, Horizon: Zero Dawn, The Outer Worlds, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

“Rockstar is removing the classic Grand Theft Auto games from the PS Store this week, and it looks like it may be expecting you to pod out for the recently announced round of remasters. According to UK retailer Base, compilation GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition could cost as much as £64.85 on the PlayStation 5 and £54.85 on the PS4.
Now, it’s worth stressing that this is very likely to be placeholder pricing from the store, and the label has yet to confirm anything official at the time of typing. Considering the company flogged the PS2 Classics for about £11.99 apiece on the PS Store, it’s going to need to introduce some significant enhancements if it intends to justify the abovementioned fees. Rockstar’s said that it’ll announce more on these remasters soon, and with a release date pegged for 2021, we’re unlikely to be waiting long. VGC is already reporting that physical copies for the PS4 are targeting a 7th December release date, although it sounds like PS5 owners may have to wait until next year for a boxed version.”

“Sony is allegedly mulling investment into a Japanese chip factory, which will see it partner with Taiwan’s TSMC to build a plant in Kumamoto. The workshop – expected to produce parts for automobiles, camera image sensors, and more – will allegedly cost billions to setup, with the Japanese government on deck to foot almost half the bill. In addition to investing in the plant, Sony will also apparently look to take a stake in the organisation established to manage it. The world has been struck by a semiconductor shortage following the global pandemic, which has reduced the supply of products like the PlayStation 5, among many others.

From VideoGamesChronicle

“Best Buy is currently selling PlayStation 5 consoles online, but access to the product is restricted to customers who have signed up to its new Totaltech membership scheme. Launched nationwide this month, Totaltech is a technology protection plan that costs $199.99 annually.“Best Buy Totaltech gives you peace of mind in one comprehensive plan: around-the-clock tech support, up to 24 months of product protection on most Best Buy purchases with an active membership, free delivery and standard installation, plus other great benefits,” according to the retailer.”
