PSP STALKER (2020 port)
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl port for PSP (PlayStation Portable) console. This alpha port was made on modified Quake engine and development still continues. I'm not a developer of this project but when I get this port I redesigned XMB menu for this game and added XMB music (need some frequency tuning tho for those small PSP speakers but it's not a commercial project and it sounds ok for this matter.) I also swapped main menu picture and I also recreated ambient music "night" (removed 99% of clicks and noise) and decrease size without any quality loss. I also remastered a lot of different sounds by removing noise without compromising any quality. Also I added missing 1MB of heap size (and now it's 24MB instead 23MB) to the game engine. Game engine is more responsive now. Application heap size was still set incorrectly in my opinion (too big it needs to be set around 32MB max instead 42MB) but I don't have a source code. I also swapped russian translation file on english to the game dialogues. And I translated UI elements and items from russian to english it's not perfect but I don't have a source code. I also enabled "dithering" by default because it improves picture quality a lot in this game and I also disabled FPS counter by default. Also was added missing "menu3" sound effect and missing "default.cfg" file. I also swapped old Quake ladder sound effects to the null sound effects because original stalker game doesn't have sound effects for the ladder climbing. Also instead music in the actual game now will be playing "night" ambient that I remastered. I also swapped knife model to the original stalker knife version (original stalker knife with decreased polygons on hands only) but at the cost of 2 FPS. Mipmaps was disabled by default to improve picture quality a lot but at the cost of 2 FPS. And etc. The original developer of this port is doing a great job to port Stalker game to PSP I was very impressed to be honest. But it might be a better idea to swap this modified quake engine to stardust engine because stardust engine utilizing PSP media engine (second separated CPU). And for this port it's always a better idea to use two PSP CPUs instead only one.
