The Raiden project was a launch title for the playstation and is an arcade accurate port. It includes both Raiden and Raiden II. I have recorded each game as a separate video.

I play both games on general difficulty and show 3 loops of each game. The game is endless which might be good for score setters and coin feeders on an arcade machine, but for a console game should have had a ending to aim for. Each loop gets progressively harder with more enemies and faster shots coming at you. I select the playstation remixed music for both games as the original can be heard in the Arcade version longplays.

I try to find the fairies in each game, but I don't know where they appear and only find a few of them. I try to save bombs for the score multiplier at the end of the level and generally use them when I am about to collect another since I can only hold 7 of them. I do alot of left-right strafing as the enemies constantly fire at where you are so you have to keep moving all the time to avoid being hit. This also helps to find medals as you are constantly shooting all over the screen this way.

For Raiden II, I play in horizontal mode and rotate the screen. This gives the game a higher resolution in its native aspect. The option doesn't do much for the first game and is the same resolution either way.
