The New World December update is coming and the PTR launches tomorrow. With it brings the biggest changes to New World to date. This time the gear score watermark system is getting reworked and end game crafting is getting change so you can loop it forever to get rewards for hand picked cosmetic 600 gear score items.

This time around the New World PTR is going to see some changes in the core parts of the game. There aren't many balance changes coming in the New World December release, but instead we're going to see MASSIVE changes to the gearscore watermark system and to end game crafting.

There are so many important changes happening, but let's not forget about the New World christmas holiday event. There's stuff about a yeti, daily rewards, finding stuff out in the world, all sorts of fun stuff to keep us occupied for a few days or weeks.

All of the changes are going to the PTR December 3rd, 2021, and we can test the out for ourselves. I'm excited to see these changes for myself. Chances are there will be unmentioned updates as well, just like last time, and I'll be sure to look at those and report on them as I can.

The new watermark system involves a material called "gypsum" which allows guaranteed boosts to your watermark. Also your watermark is now called expertise and is clearly displayed next to each gear slot in your inventory.

As for crafting, it's called aptitude which is basically a way to level up infinitely. Also you'll get rewards for completing aptitude levels and in those are schematics to make guaranteed 600 gear score rolls.

There are all sorts of insane changes coming in the New World holiday patch. It's probably going to be the New World 1.2 patch notes that we're looking at here, but we'll see how they number it.
