Abstract: In times of an epidemic or a pandemic of an infectious disease, as in the case of COVID-19, it becomes necessary to implement certain public health policies in order to reduce the transmission of the disease. The presentation will show how students could be motivated to learn differential equations, if it can be demonstrated that public health policies could be derived using disease models in the form of differential equations.The focus will be on policies related to air filtration systems in enclosed spaces and social distancing.
