Welcome to a new playthrough of a classic: Pu·Li·Ru·La, a 1991 arcade game released by Taito that's known for its elaborate anime art style and bizarre enemy characters!
In this game, we find ourselves in the magical land of Radishland where time is kept flowing with a time key. However, a villain has stolen this key, stopping time and causing chaos in the towns. Our heroes, Zac and Mel, are entrusted by an old man to defend their town using a magic stick.
As we progress, you'll see that Pu·Li·Ru·La is a basic beat 'em up action game. Player 1 controls Zac and Player 2 controls Mel, both having identical controls. The game involves fighting through enemies until reaching the boss at the end of each area. One fun aspect? When enemies are hit, they turn into animals and run off the screen! You get points for walking into these animals.
In this playthrough, we'll dive talk about the original Japanese version of the game, which includes some unique and quirky sections that were removed from the international release. This includes an area with giant female legs sticking out of the wall and pink elephants occasionally escaping from a door!
Join us on this journey back in time and experience the classic that even made a cameo in episode 17 of High Score Girl, and received praise from the French magazine Game Fan.
