Pump it Up Phoenix vs. XX Research - has the AV scroll speed changed?
I have heard reports from some players that they felt like the scroll speed of Auto Velocity (AV) had changed between XX and Phoenix, and that using the same numbers on Phoenix would make notes scroll slower than previously.
To test this theory, I synced two videos from NEVSISTER (https://www.youtube.com/@NEVSISTER) from the same chart on both XX and Phoenix and overlaid them on top of each other adding some transparecy to one of the videos so you can see how the arrows match. Both are played on AV650.
My editing skills are limited so the sync is not 100% correct down to the millisecond, but I believe it's pretty clear that the speed of the arrows match on both games. There are some times where you'll see the arrows desync a bit (leaving a transparent trail), but I think that's due to dropped frames on either the recording or rendering of the edit. For the most part, the arrows are right on top of each other. If there was a speed difference, this desync effect would be way more pronounced and consistent.
Also, it's clear that the note receptors weren't visually moved between versions as they are right on top of each other on the edited footage, so EXC's comment about moving the "judgement line" seems to refer to the coded offset for the judgement window, not something visually displayed by the game.
